Locker Rooms

Locker Room Policy

Respect the space. Protect the players.

Locker rooms are a key part of hockey culture—but they're also private spaces. Our policies help ensure player safety, promote independence, and create a respectful environment for all teams.

Who Belongs in the Locker Room?

Locker rooms are for players and coaches only. We ask that parents, siblings, and friends stay outside the locker room, starting at the Squirt (10U) level and up.

If your player needs help tying skates or putting on gear, please meet them outside the locker room.

For Younger Divisions (6U and 8U):

  • Parents may assist players in Mini Mites and Mites only when a screened team official (coach or locker room monitor) is present.
  • We encourage kids to dress themselves to build independence and keep the space clear.

Locker Room Rules

To keep things safe, respectful, and organized:

  • Parents are not permitted in locker rooms (10U and up)
  • Siblings are not allowed in the locker room (10U and up)
  • Sticks should stay outside the locker room
  • Clean up your space—players are responsible for tidying up after themselves
  • No horseplay in or around the locker rooms
  • No pucks, balls, or makeshift objects off the ice unless supervised by a coach for drills
  • Honor the minimum attire policy for all mixed-gender teams: Athletes should arrive to the rink wearing their hockey base layers (or t-shirts and shorts), and this base layer should be worn at all times in the locker room.

Girls Locker Room Policy

Only female players and female team officials are allowed in the designated girls’ locker room.

Male coaches may enter only if:

  • The players are fully dressed and
  • A screened female team official is present.

For co-ed teams above the Squirt level, female players will dress in a separate locker room when available and may join the team for pre-game talks only once everyone is dressed. If a separate locker room is unavailable, both genders should follow the minimum attire policy.

Gear & Bag Etiquette

Players should zip and stow their bags neatly after dressing.

Keep the floor clear so others can move safely through the space.

💬 A Note to Parents

We know the early years involve a lot of hands-on help, and that’s okay! But as players grow, our goal is to help them gain independence—starting in the locker room. Thanks for supporting that effort!
